Latest achievements of the CompositesLab Team!
We’re happy to share an update from our colleagues at ATG Engineering in Italy, who recently presented their latest achievements at the Future Innovation Research in Space Transportation (FIRST!) event in Paris. The spotlight was on the Composite Multi-Payload Adapter (CMPA), a project developed under ESA’s Future Launchers Preparatory Programme (FLPP).
Just one year into the project, the CompositesLab team has made impressive progress. Leveraging ATG’s patented lattice technology, the team designed and analyzed three CMPA structures, demonstrating potential mass savings of up to 41%, a significant advancement for future space transportation solutions. In addition to this, they successfully manufactured breadboard samples, a key step in validating the port region design and reducing associated risks.

With breadboard testing being lined up, this achievement marks a milestone on the CMPA’s journey toward commercialization. We look forward to seeing how the upcoming testing phase unfolds, and to following the team’s continued efforts as they move toward full-scale manufacturing and qualification testing.
Congratulations to the team!
